March 28th - April 1st

A look at what we will be studying this week.........

  • In Language Arts we will be be talking about compound words.  We will discuss how breaking down the word will help them with decoding unknown words.
  • In Math we will finish up Chapter 10 - Place Value to 1,000. We will begin Chapter 11 with 2D and 3D shapes.
  • In Social Studies we will continue to look at our earth's natural resources and we use them in our everyday lives.

Spelling Words: anybody, together, afternoon, himself, herself, weekend, airplane, someone, repairman, wheelbarrow

Monday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WB 85

Tuesday - Read for 15 minutes. Use 8 of the spelling words and use them in a sentence that has at least 8 words per sentence.

Wednesday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WB 86

Thursday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WB 87

A Few Other Things.................
  • School Wide Parent Presentation: "Pornography the Drug of the New Millennium". Presented by: LIC. Jorge Panayotti. On Thursday, April 7th at 5:00 in the Elementary Multipurpose Room.
  • The SACS accrediation team will be here until Wednesday.  It is time to show them our great school!
  • No After School Spanish Club on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday
  • No Musical practice on Tuesday
  • There will be Eagle League on Monday
  • Report cards will go home today for those who did not attend a conference. 
  • Congratulations to Ana Mercedes Luque for attending Lunch Bunch with Ms. Martinez
  • We have Library today.

Week of March 21st - 25th

A look at what we will be studying this week.........
  • In Language Arts we will be review Opinions and discuss Facts.  Students will be able to identify the difference between the two and write them.  We will also work on making predictions and confirming their predictions. 
  • In Math we will continue to work on Chapter 10 - Place Value to 1,000.  We will be ordering, comparing, reading and writing numbers up to 1,000.
  • In Social Studies we will continue to look at our earth's natural resources and  we use them in our everyday lives.

Thursday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WS 8 and 9.  Study your spelling words.


A Few Other Things.................

  • A BIG thank you to all the dads and special guests that came for Father's Day, it meant the world to the kids.  Also, a huge thank you to the moms for the very delicious snacks!
  • Remember to have your child read at least 4 nights (any night you want including weekends) per week. We will be checking the calendars every Monday. Please leave the calendars in the folders so we can check them.
  • Early Release on Friday, March 25th at 11:00 due to Parent Conferences.
  • Parent Conferences will be held on Friday, March 25th.  The sign up sheet is posted outside our door.
  • Color's Day is on Thursday.

Week of March 14th - 18th

A look at what we will be studying this week.........

  • In Language Arts we will be working on our Father's Day Activities.  We will also be reading a passage and taking the facts and writing a description about the the topic based on the information given.  We will discuss fact and opinion and how to know the difference between the two. 
  • In Math we work on Chapter 10 - Place Value to 1,000.
  • In Social Studies we will be looking at how we depend on our resources.

Spelling Words:  shook, hook, crook, soot, should, stood, brook, foot, could, would, clerk, stir, during, sure, whole

Monday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WS 58 and 59.

Tuesday - Read for 15 minutes. Read "Time for Kids" then write a summary about what you read. The reading can count towards the reading calendar for the night.

Wednesday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WB 80

Thursday - Read for 15 minutes. Math WB 81

A Few Other Things.................

  • Library in on Friday 
  • Remember to have your child read at least 4 nights (any night you want including weekends) per week.  We will be checking the calendars every Monday.  Please leave the calendars in the folders so we can check them.
  • Father's Day Celebration on Friday, March 18th from 9:00-9:50.  Grandfather's, Uncles, anyone is invited to be your child's special guest if their father is unavailable.
  • Miles for Smiles will be Thursday, March 17th from 2:45-4:00.   Your child may still participate and bring money for the final mile.  It is too late to order the T-shirt.  They may wear a green shirt if they are going to participate after school.
  • Order forms for family day t-shirts went home on Friday.  The due date for the ordering the shirts is March 18th.  Family Day will be on April 2nd.

Week of March 7th - March 11th

A look at what we will be studying this week.........

  • In Language Arts we practice more with writing the beginning, middle, and end of a story.  We will also be writing predictions.
  • In Math we will start Chapter 10, Place Value to 1,000
  • In Science we will learn about magnets.  We will take a short quiz on Thursday.
Homework for the week..........

Spelling Words:  can't, don't. she's, I'll, won't, isn't. couldn't, we'll, they're, you're


Monday - Read for 15 minutes. Choose 8 of your spelling words and use them in a sentence. You must have at least 8 words per sentence.

Tuesday -  Read for 15 minutes.  Math Regrouping  Review WS.

Wednesday - Read Gooses's Story page 47 in the Treasures book, this will count as your reading for the reading calendar. On page 73 Answer question one of the questions, your choice as to which one you want to answer.  Study for spelling test and magnets quiz. 


A Few Other Things.................

  • We would like for you to leave the Reading Calendar in the homework folder at all times.  We will be checking the calendar every Monday to make sure your child read a minimum of 4 times the past week.  We are also looking for the parent initials.  There is no need to write the name of the book they are reading. Reading Calendar is not optional.
  • Library on Thursday
  • No School on Friday
  • On Friday I sent home a list of the subtraction facts.  Please use that as a study guide.
  • Father's Day will be celebrated on Friday, March 18th from 9:00-9:50
  • Friday is the end of the 3rd quarter
