Week of September 20-24

A look at what we will be studying this week..........
  • We will be switching from Social Studies to Science for the remainder of the first quarter.  We will start a unit on Dinosaurs.  We will begin this week with studying Fossils and Erosion.
  • In Math we will be using the addition strategy of Doubles (4+4) and Doubles Plus One (4+5) to increase  fluency in addition facts.  The students will have a Doubles Quiz on Tuesday.
  • In Language Arts we will be reading stories from our Reading text book (Treasures).  We will use the stories that we are reading to identify the Beginning, Middle, and End of a story.  We will also start this week with having weekly spelling words.  The words may seem easy, but they are high frequency words that the students use everyday, it is important to spell them correctly on a daily basis.

Homework for the week..........

Spelling Words for the Week (These words have the short e, o, and u sound):  went, pet, tub, tell, not, hut, tug, job, fog, bun

Be careful and don't let the sentences become run-on sentences.  See example below.
