Week of October 11-15

A look at what we will be studying this week..........

  • In Language Arts we will be discussing "Test Taking Strategies".  We will be doing an interactive writing on the strategies we should use when taking a test. 
  • In Math we be talking about about number words.  How to read and write them.  The spelling words will come from number words this week.
  • In Science, we will continue with our dinosaur unit with "Dinosaur Groups".  We will be taking a quiz on Friday.  You will receive another handout to help with studying for the quiz.
Homework for the week..........

 Spelling Words: The words come from the math chapter we are studying:
eleven, twelve, thirteen, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety

Tuesday - Daily Language Review (do Monday and Tuesday). Read for 10 minutes. Math WS 1and 2

Wednesday - Daily Language Review and read for 15 minutes.  Journal Writing:  Write a paragraph about what you should do when you are taking a test.  What strategies should you use?

Thursday - Daily Language Review and read for 15 minutes. Study Spelling words. Study for Dinosaur quiz, "Dinosaur Groups".

A Few Other Things.................
  • Today your child received information about an October Book Project.  This is due on Nov. 1st
  • There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 11th and 25th.
  • Etiquette Club is on Tuesdays. We have a new group of students for the month of October.  Rolando, Roberto, Carlos, Zarina, and Maria Jose will be attending. Please make sure you send a lunch from home on those days. Also send in a fork, knife (if needed) and a napkin.
  • Thank you for sending in your donation to buy a new Eagle mascot.  We are still accepting donations.
  • Thank you for sending in boxes of kleenexes.  We have enough boxes to last us for awhile.
  • Happy Birthday to Roger on October 17th.
  • Reminder that Tuesday, October 19th we will have a late start at 9:30.
  • Eagle League is on Wednesday and Friday this week.
  • Friday is the end of the first quarter.
  • Just a reminder that you need to be checking the specials teachers' blogs for their homework assignments.
  • This month is Online Safety Awareness Month.  Please check out the computer teacher's blog for tips.
  • We will be celebrating Halloween on October 29th with at parade at 1:10 and a small party in our room following the parade.  So start thinking about those costumes!
